Arequipa is a Peruvian city, capital of the province and of the homonymous department. It is the second most populated city in the country, after Lima.
Its historic center, which extends over an area of 332 hectares, 23 and was declared in 2000 "Cultural Heritage of Humanity" by Unesco.24 The historical and monumental heritage that it houses and its various scenic and cultural spaces la make it a host city for national and international tourism. In said historic center, the viceregal and republican religious architecture stands out, a product of a mixture of Spanish and native characteristics.
